Isla Mujeres |play>

I woke up to see the sky
see the hazy sky
I dreamt I was walking on a cloud
taking in the night
I felt myself breathe
as I spread across the land
heard nothing but the crispness
of my feet upon the sand
and the stars that seemed so high
like a punctured sheet of sky
came a sliver of light
that was silouhetting the night
and all was bitter and cold
as if to prepare for the coming day
the sun came creeping over
singed the coldness from my face
then I saw what I couldn't see
spread in front of me
the shadows from the night before
became reality
and I walked on, walked on
walked to kill the air
walked to pass the time
I was walking anywhere

I thought I was alone
until I saw you standing there
I saw you shed against the darkness
and knew why you were here
we didn't say a word
didn't say a word
we stood listening to the silence
as it cut the air
we looked at the stones
and what was underneath
hiding from the sun
escaping from the heat
next thing we knew it was dark again
we were tired and were sore
we couldn't remember which way we came
from the night before

and I was thinking about the storm
the night we watched waves
getting all excited
about the coming day
of what the wind would bring
from the darkening face of the sky
we waited in our shelter
for the night to pass us by
the walls shook the windows cracked
the wind swept from the raging sea
the ocean knocked on our door
and was telling us to leave

and I love the way you look
I love the way you walk
I love the way you talk to me
and I love the way you are
I look back on all these things
that led up to this day
we seemed so far from home
now it really seemed that way

woke up the next morning
there wasn't a cloud in the sky
scattered in the streets
was evidence of last night
the anger was gone
spilled across the land
left us standing there
like scattered points across a plane
