Motionless Roadside | play>

Solid ground and planes so smooth
a curtain hangs in an empty room
a lone nail hangs on the wall
a bare light bulb shines in the hall
checked the mail and no one's here
all alone and full of fear

the stairs spill down into the street
a walk beside the dried up stream
in the gutter lies lifeless debris
left from the trip out west to see
they saw what they were looking for
and then they came back home
right past here again, where I stand alone
they didn't stop, just drove right by
no one sees a motionless roadside
no one sees a motionless roadside
they didn't stop, they just drove right by
just drove right by
